Automatic cloud backup for your business

Every day, uptoS3 copies your files, folders and Firebird databases to Amazon S3 and to network folders, checks that every copy arrived, and alerts you if anything goes wrong.

  • Stored on Amazon S3
  • AES-256 encryption
  • Alert if a backup fails
  • We set it up for you

Does your backup still depend on someone remembering?

USB sticks, external drives and manual copies fail exactly when you need them most. The most common problems we see:

The backup stopped and nobody noticed

Copies quietly stopped weeks ago, and nobody finds out until the day something has to be restored.

The copy sits in the same place

If the backup drive is next to the server, a theft, fire, power surge or virus takes both at once.

The database copied the wrong way

Copying a database file while the software is open can produce a corrupted copy that won't open.

Everything a reliable backup needs

Set it up once. uptoS3 runs in the background, in the Windows system tray or as a service, and takes care of the rest.

Automatic scheduling

Pick the days and times for each task. If a run fails it retries on its own, even after the computer restarts.

Firebird database backup

Creates a consistent backup with gbak, even while the software is in use. Ideal for ERP and business management systems.

Cloud and network at once

Send to Amazon S3 and also to an external drive or network share. Several copies in several places, from one task.

Only sends what changed

Smart sync uploads only new or changed files, saving time and bandwidth. Optional ZIP compression.

Encrypted end to end

Uploads travel over HTTPS and every file is stored encrypted with AES-256 in Amazon S3.

Verification and rotation

Checks that the latest backup is really there and keeps only the number of copies you choose, keeping storage under control.

Email and Telegram alerts

Know right away when a backup fails. The tray icon shows the status at a glance: green, blue or red.

Easy file recovery

Built-in file manager: browse, download, restore earlier versions and recover deleted files, with no AWS console needed.

Built for servers too

Runs as a Windows service with nobody logged in, plus a command-line edition for automation.

Why uptoS3 beats manual backups

Compare it with what most businesses do today.

Quick tutorial: from zero to your first backup

Six simple steps. Buttons appear exactly as they do in the program. Just follow the orange numbers.

Step 1 of 6

Add your AWS key

The key is the "login" that lets uptoS3 store files in your Amazon S3 account. You only do this once.

  1. In the main window, click AWS Keys... and then Add...
  2. Give the key a name and paste the Access Key ID and Secret Access Key. Pick your bucket's region.
  3. Click Test Connection to make sure the key works.
  4. Click OK. Done, the key is saved.

With our guided installation, the key is already set up for you.

Step 2 of 6

Create a task and choose what to protect

Each task is one backup: what to copy, where to and when. Start with the "what".

  1. In the main window, click New Task.
  2. Give it an easy-to-recognize name in Task Name:
  3. On the Sources tab, click Add Folder... (or Add Files...) and pick what to protect.
  4. Running software with a Firebird database? Click Firebird Backup...: uptoS3 makes a safe copy even while the software is open.
2 / 6
Step 3 of 6

Choose where the copies go

The main copy goes to the cloud (Amazon S3). If you like, send a second copy to an external drive or network folder.

  1. On the Destination tab, enter the S3 Bucket Name (your "vault" in the cloud).
  2. Under AWS Key:, pick the key you added in step 1.
  3. Under Storage Tier:, keep Standard or choose a cheaper class for long-term archives.
  4. Optional: on the Additional Destinations tab, click Add Folder... to also copy to an external drive or network share.
3 / 6
Step 4 of 6

Set when to run and how many copies to keep

Pick the times and uptoS3 takes care of the rest, even if the computer is off at the scheduled time.

  1. On the Schedule tab, choose Daily, at these times (or days of the week, or every N minutes).
  2. Pick a time and click Add Time. You can add as many times as you like.
  3. Leave this ticked: if the PC is off at backup time, the backup runs as soon as it is back on.
  4. On the Rotation & Checks tab, choose how many copies to keep (for example, the 7 newest) and click OK.
4 / 6
Step 5 of 6

Run the first backup and keep an eye on it

From here on everything is automatic. Just glance at the icon next to the Windows clock.

  1. Select the task and click Run Now to make the first backup right away.
  2. Just want to simulate? Dry Run shows what would be sent, without sending anything.
  3. Check the Status column: Success means the copy arrived. If something fails, you get an email or Telegram alert (set up in Settings...).
5 / 6
Step 6 of 6

Browse the cloud and get files back

The Bucket Browser is a file explorer for the cloud: see everything that was stored and download what you need.

  1. In the main window, click Bucket Browser..., pick the bucket and click Go.
  2. Browse the folders, select the file and click Download Selected...
  3. Right-click to see earlier versions, recover deleted files or create a share link.

Yes. If your software uses a Firebird database, uptoS3 creates a consistent backup with gbak, even while the software is open. It also copies any file or folder.

What if the computer is off at backup time?

When the computer comes back on, uptoS3 re-runs the backups that failed or were interrupted, and retries automatically if there is an error.

Yes. Files are sent over HTTPS and each one is stored encrypted (AES-256) in Amazon S3, one of the most reliable storage services in the world.
